EstePerio2018 3rd International Congress of Periodontology and Esthetic Dentistry held in Baku focuses on periodontal-periimplant health and digital esthetic dentistry.

 

On 9-10 November 2018, 3rd International Congress of Periodontology and Esthetic Dentistry EstePerio2018 was held in Baku, Azerbaijan. The meeting was organized by Azerbaijani Society of Periodontology and Azerbaijani Association of Esthetic Dentistry with the participation of almost 300 national and 50 international dentists, students and industry representatives from 13 countries in Holiday Inn Baku Hotel. 

 

The unique list of keynote speakers were Mario Aimetti (Italy), Sofia Aroca (France), Esra Can (Turkey), Yulia Chumakova (Ukraine), Korkud Demirel (Turkey), Ludmila Orekhova (Russia), Ilya Rabinovich (Russia), Michele Reners (Belgium), Massimo de Sanctis (Italy), Cem Yıldız (Turkey) and Emir Yuzbasioglu (Turkey).

 

The focus of the congress was the recent advancements and prospects in periodontology, oral implantology, esthetic & digital dentistry. The main purpose of the meeting was to inform the delegates about new periodontal classification, soft tissue management around teeth & implants and the new digital technologies to improve esthetics. The congress also highlighted the role of increasing awareness of the impact of periodontal disease on general health. 

 

The event was accredited by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Health and all participants attending the congress and/or presenting the research abstracts have received CME credits.  The Exhibition was held in conjunction with the Congress and located in the foyers of the Congress Venue. Almost 20 national and international dental companies gave their organizational support to this meeting. EFP partners, such as GSK and Johnson & Johnson, have participated 1st time ever at the meeting organized by the Azerbaijani Society of Periodontology. Five best research abstracts with the authors from India, Turkey and Azerbaijan were invited for an oral presentation at the congress.

During the Opening Ceremony, Dr. Cavid Ahmedbeyli, President of Azerbaijani Society of Periodontology and Chair of the Organizing Committee informed the delegates about the history of the National Perio Society, important national and international activities carried out in recent years, strategic relation with its key partner - European Federation of Peridontology (EFP) and its all global projects that are supported by the Society. He proudly stated ‘‘As this is our 1st international congress after we became the EFP National Member Society in 2017, we worked hard to organize a very high level dental congress meeting international requirements.’’ Dr. Michele Reners, Keynote Speaker and Chair of the EuroPerio9 Organizing Committee stated: ‘‘I was very surprised with the high level organization of the meeting, the scientific programme and social activities. I would rather compare its level with EuroPerio9 Amsterdam.’’

After 2-day scientific programme the Keynote Speakers and Delegates participated the Gala Evening enjoying the national cuisine, interesting show programme with the magnificent Baku view from the 29th floor of Vertical 29 Restaurant. The next EstePerio2020 Congress will take place in Baku on 4-6 June 2020.
