European Gum Health Day 2018

Azerbaijani Society of Periodontology has actively celebrated the 12 May 2018 European Gum Health Day, an international awareness day, jointly with the European Federation of Periodontology. Activities took place under the slogan ‘Health begins with healthy gums’.

 

The Society has organized a range of activities in Azerbaijan: seminars, free periodontal screenings, sharing event information via social media, sending out posters to our members, a press release on the importance of early diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease:

On May 3 2018, Prof. Mahir Aliyev, Dr. Rahim Garayev, Dr. Cavid Ahmedbeyli have delivered “Prevention, early diagnostics and treatment of periodontal diseases” full day seminar with a special attention to the European Gum Health Day 2018, to the dentists involved in the state continuing dental education programs in Periodontology at the Azerbaijan State Advanced Training Institute for Doctors Department of Stomatology and Maxillofacial Surgery.

On May 10 2018, “Current approaches in the treatment of periodontal disease” seminars were hosted by Dr. Ramiz Ahmedbeyli and Dr. Aslan Mammadov for the undergraduate and postgraduate dental students at Azerbaijan Medical University Dental School.

On May 7 2018, Dr. Nubar Mammadova held a workshop, supported by Curaprox Azerbaijan team, on "Healthy Gums & Oral Hygiene" at "Ilk Nur" kindergarten in Baku. During the seminar, 25 children were examined by providing information on oral health and hygiene. At the end, their parents were also informed and advised about their problems in the oral cavity and required treatments.

During May 1-12 2018, Society board members and the most of the general members have conducted free periodontal screenings for 110 patients in different regions of Azerbaijan and gave the information about the importance of periodontal disease with further prevention and treatment recommendations.

 

On May 16 2018, Dr. Cavid Ahmedbeyli lectured on "Gum Health & Key Elements in Periodontontal Plastic Surgery for the Treatment of Gingival recessions" at the International Confrence in St. Petersburg (Russia), organized by Russian Society of Periodontology and Pavlov Saint Petersburg State Medical University. The event was specially dedicated to European Gum Health Day & Selected Issues in Periodontology.
