EFP Perio Master Clinic 2026 conference site inspection by the European Federation of Periodontology and Mondial Congress & Events took place in Baku, Azerbaijan.
On 12-13 February 2024, the delegation represented by Monique Danser, Treasurer of the European Federation of Periodontology, Phoebus Madianos, Congress Committee Chair of the European Federation of Periodontology, and Florian Fehringer, Director of International Projects of the Mondial visited Baku to evaluate the preparations for the EFP Perio Master Clinic 2026 to be held in Baku on 6-7 March 2026 in Baku Convention Center. The site inspection included meetings with Cavid Ahmedbeyli, President of the Azerbaijani Society of Periodontology and Chair of the EFP Perio Master Clinic 2026 Conference; Local Organising Committee members Aslan Mammadov, Nargiz Aliyeva, Rustam Aghazada, Vafa Khanmammadova, and Samra Guliyeva, Head of Business Events of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board at Baku Convention Centre; hotels proposed for speakers and delegates; restaurants proposed for the official speaker and gala dinners. During the visit to the Baku Convention Center, the main auditorium, pre-congress workshop halls, exhibition and networking area and preliminary scientific programme proposed by Mariano Sanz, Scientific Chair of the EFP Perio Master Clinic 2026 Conference were evaluated and discussed in detail. Industry-supported pre-congress workshops will take place on Thursday, 5 March 2026; scientific programme accompanied by live surgeries - Friday and Saturday, 6-7 March 2026. Speaker’s dinners will take place on Friday, 6 March 2026, and the Congress Gala Dinner - on Saturday, 7 March 2026.
The 2nd international conference of Quintessence Azerbaijan, co-organized by Quintessence Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani Society of Periodontology, was held in Baku.
On December 16, 2023, the 2nd international conference of Quintessenz Azerbaijan was held with the co-organization of Quintessence Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani Society of Periodontology and participation of international and national keynote speakers such as Mariano Sanz (Spain), Cavid Ahmedbeyli (Azerbaijan), Aslan Mammadov (Azerbaijan) and Samir Karimov (Azerbaijan).
Professor Mariano Sanz was granted Honorary Membership of Azerbaijani Society of Periodontology
Mariano Sanz, professor of the Complutense University of Madrid, was granted "Honorary Membership" of the Azerbaijani Society of Periodontology by the decision of the Society Board Committee for his outstanding contributions to the field of Periodontology & Implant Dentistry in Azerbaijan and globally. Honorary Membership plaque and various gifts from the Society was presented to him during 2nd international conference of Quintessenz Azerbaijan held with the co-organization of Quintessence Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani Society of Periodontology at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Baku on 16 December 2023.
Azerbaijani Society of Periodontology was represented at the PerioTbilisi2023 International Conference organized by the Georgian Society of Periodontology.
On November 24-25 2023, Dr. Cavid Ahmedbeyli attended the PerioTbilisi2023 International Conference in Tbilisi (Georgia), organized by Georgian Society of Periodontology. During this visit, the development and prospects of existing relations between the organisations were discussed.
Official diplomas were presented to the first graduates of the Periodontology Curriculum programmes organized by the Azerbaijani Society of Periodontology.
The Periodontology Curriculum, an educational project of the Azerbaijan Society of Periodontology, accredited by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Continuing Medical Education was organized by the Society for the first time in Azerbaijan in 2023. The Periodontology Curriculum is an annual continuing medical education program, consisting of 4 seminars and 5 master classes on the diagnosis, non-surgical and surgical treatment of periodontal diseases was successfully held and the first graduates of the curriculum have recieved their official diplomas.
Cavid Ahmedbeyli, President of the Azerbaijan Society of Periodontology has lectured at the "Baku Heart Days" 8th International Congress organized by the Azerbaijani Society of Cardiovascular Surgery.
On 19-21 May 2023, "Baku Heart Days" 8th International Congress, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, was held in Baku Gulistan Palace under the organization of the Azerbaijani Society of Cardiovascular Surgery. Cavid Ahmedbeyli, president of the Azerbaijani Society of Periodontology, was invited as a speaker to this congress attended by 400 local and foreign cardiologists and cardiac surgeons from more than 20 countries. His lecture entitled "The role of periodontology in heart health" was aiming to disseminate European Federation of Periodontology Perio & Cardio campaign, that promotes awareness of the important links between periodontal diseases and cardiovascular diseases; explaining how these two diseases can be fought together. During the presentation, detailed information about the current activities of the Azerbaijani Society of Periodontology and European Federation of Periodontology, the highlights of the early diagnosis, prevention and co-management of periodontal disease in patients with cardiovascular disease based on the Perio & Cardio recommendations for medical professional and animation have been provided to the delegates.

On April 1, 2023, the General Assembly of the Federation was held in the city of Helsingor, Denmark, with the participation of 37 countries that are members of the European Periodontology Federation. At this event, the Society has represented by Cavid Ahmedbeyli, president of the Azerbaijan Society of Periodontology, and Aslan Mammadov, vice-president, delegate in the European Periodontology Federation.
One of the main issues on the agenda of the General Assembly was the next "Perio Master Clinic" conference of the Federation to be held in 2026. The struggle to host this conference continued between Baku and Finland's Helsinki. In his presentation prepared with the support of the Azerbaijan Congress Bureau, Cavid Ahmedbeyli gave detailed information to the delegates about the potential of Baku for international business events.
The holding of the international conference with the participation of more than 1,000 specialists on March 6-7, 2026 at the Baku Congress Center in Azerbaijan was approved as a result of a secret vote of the countries that are full members of the European Periodontology Federation. Cavid Ahmedbeyli and Mariano Sanz (Madrid Complutense University, Spain) were appointed as the Organizing Committee and Scientific Committee chairs, respectively.

Dr. Aslan Mammadov has attended EFP Perio Master Clinic Conference in Antwerp.
EFP Perio Master Clinic 2023, organised by the European Federation of Periodontology, was focused on ''Perio-Ortho Synergy'' and attended by 800 delegates in the Flanders Meeting & Convention Center Antwerp on 3-4 March 2023. Azerbaijan was presented at the meeting by Dr. Aslan Mammadov, Vice-President of Azerbaijani Society of Periodontology.
Forum Perio-Endodontika international conference was jointly organized by the Azerbaijani Society of Periodontology and Limon Dental in Baku.
EFP Perio&Cardio campaign was translated to the Azerbaijani language by the Azerbaijan Society of Periodontology and presented to the oral healthcare and medical professionals, pharmacists, patients and the public.
Azerbaijani Society of Periodontology has actively participated in EuroPerio10 International Confrence in Periodontology in Copenhagen.
On June 15-18, 2022, EuroPerio10 international conference in periodontology was held in Copenhagen, Denmark, organized by the European Federation of Periodontology. Azerbaijani Society of Periodontology, the full member of the European Federation of Periodontology, actively participated and supported this event, which was attended by about 7,200 representatives from more than 100 countries. At the world-renowned conference with more than 130 speakers and a scientific program consisting of 41 sessions, our country was represented by the members of the Board of Committee of the Azerbaijani Society of Periodontology, as well as about 40 Azerbaijani dentists practicing in Azerbaijan and abroad, as well as post-graduate researchers. Also, at this conference, the results of about 10 researches conducted by Azerbaijani scientists in the field of periodontology and implantology were presented as oral and poster presentations.
Azerbaijani Society of Periodontology has actively celebrated 12 May Gum Health Day, an international awareness day, jointly organized by the European Federation of Periodontology and its affiliated members. Activities took place under the slogan “Treat Your Gums”

Azerbaijani Society of Periodontology was elected a full member of the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) at the General Assembly of the Federation held on March 26, 2022 in Vienna with the participation of 37 countries that are members of the Federation.
At this event, our country was represented by the President of the Society, Cavid Ahmadbeyli, and the Vice-president & Azerbaijani Representative in the Federation (EFP Delegate) Aslan Mammadov.
Azerbaijani Society of Periodontology was elected an Associate member of the Federation at the General Assembly of the European Periodontology Federation held in Santiago de Compostela, Spain in 2017. According to the By-Laws of the European Federation of Periodontology, only countries that are European countries according to the World Health Organization and have successfully completed a 5-year associate membership period in the Federation can apply for full membership. Taking into account the activities of the Azerbaijan Periodontology Society during the period of associate membership and the important changes achieved in the field of Periodontology in Azerbaijan during the last 5 years, the European Federation of Periodontology, the full membership application addressed by the Society to the Executive Committee of the Federation was welcomed and included in the agenda of the General Assembly held in Vienna.
Cavid Ahmedbeyli, The President of Society, informed the delegates of the General Assembly, the activities of the Society in Azerbaijan and the Federation in recent years and the achieved achievements; state approval of the periodontology specialty and the new periodontology residency program in higher education institutions; updated periodontology training program in continuous medical education, certification of oral healthcare specialists in accordance with modern requirements, as well as the EFP new international classification of periodontal and peri-implant diseases, translated publications such as educational campaigns (Perio&Caries, Perio&Diabet, Perio&Cardio, Oral Health&Pregnancy) in Azerbaijani, proposals and future activities. An official certificate was presented to our country, which was elected as a full member of the Federation. Azerbaijan became the first European country to join the ranks of the European Periodontology Federation as a full member among the member countries of the Commonwealth of Independent Countries.

Dr. Rovshan Mammadov, Azerbaijani Society of Periodontology Vice-President & EuroPerio 10 Ambassador has attended National Ambassadors Meeting in Vienna on 25 March 2022. Main topics related to the EuroPerio10 International Conference in Periodontology (15-18 June 2022, Copenhagen) were discussed in detail at this meeting, which was attended by the EuroPerio10 Organizing Committee and National Ambassadors. After the meeting, Ambassadors had the graffiti workshop where they had drawn personal graffiti using colored paints on a specially allocated wall.
